comments on Last Friends

So today, I started watching Last Friends. My expectations were that it would be slow-moving, boring, and that I’d lose interest after the first episode. Wow, I was really wrong. So, I decided I’d post a few of my comments about the series as I watch it. Right now, I’m on episode 3 (just 3, I know).
First, the opening. The theme song, Prisoner of Love by Utada Hikaru is a great song. The first time I heard it, I went and downloaded it off Youtube. Onto my iPod it went. (By the way my iPod is a silver 8GB video nano and its name is Kudou for now. My 80GB video and my green 1st generation mini have all broken. Apple and I have a love/hate relationship.) The song fits the drama so well. Every character has a love conflict - Michiru loves Sousuke, but is in an abusive relationship. Ruka loves Michiru, but Michiru is with Sousuke. And Takeru loves Ruka, but Ruka loves Michiru. The scenes in the opening show the love complications. I also really liked the red string – the akai ito – swirling through the curtains, and how all the characters wear white.
As for characters, I love Ruka – she’s boyish and thoughtful, and I like Takeru – he’s also thoughtful, and he seems sensible and cool. But, I really, really don’t like Michiru. She’s so weak-spirited. The first time Sousuke got violent with her, she should have left him. I try to understand that she still loves him, and believes he is sorry, but I just don’t see why she stays. He’s so controlling – she can’t go out without telling him when she’ll be back, she can’t cut men’s hair, she can’t see Ruka. I mean, GEEZ, cant she see he’s a jerk. Oh, and the cafe scene in episode 3 made me really mad. Michiru was all like, “I’ve never felt loved…until I met Sousuke…he CAN go overboard…but I can feel his love…” Yeah, she can feel it through the bruises and cuts he gives her. And, on top of that, she says it in front of Ruka, who’s loved her more than anyone else in her sad little life from way back when they were in high school. MICHIRU, GET A GRIP!!!
Casting was done especially well for the show. Ryo Nishikido has this dark aura – perfect for a screwed up DV guy, and Eita is just awkward enough with that haircut to be potentially gay. The actors playing Michiru and Ruka are superb. To make me hate Michiru that much, come on. And Ruka has that boyish charm and stubborn personality.
well, that’s all for now, now that I’ve typed myself into a fit of anger. If I keep going, I’ll probably start foaming at the mouth. For the people who like Michiru, I’ll try to pity her life a bit more. But, if she doesn’t find a way to move in with Ruka, Takeru, Eri, and Ogurin soon, I might just have a cow.

Ranting and Raving! with some other good stuffs
Haven’t posted in a while. I have been reminiscing about all my first dramas – Hana Kimi, Hana Yori Dango, and Kurosagi. I’ve been re-watching HYD and the first few episodes of Kurosagi the past few days. HYD is just as good the second time!! I had a friend over recently, and I made her watch Hana Kimi. We got up to the 10 episode – and she actually didn’t mind it. (she’s not the drama type) She liked Nakatsu better than Sano. I, on the other hand, am a total Sano/Mizuki fan. Speaking of Sano, did you know that Yamada Yu and Oguri Shun are together??? I had no idea…maybe that’s old news
I have some more drama news which you may or may not have heard of - There’s going to be a Hana Yori Dango Final Movie, a Crows Zero 2, and Code Blue (Yamapi, Aragaki Yui, and Toda Erika) and Maou (Ohno Satoshi, Ikuta Toma) face off in July!!! I’m pumped!
So, I was flipping through a Shoxx mag, and I saw the page featuring SuG, and I was all like “BAM!! Is that Jin Akanishi???” (I had looked at it really quickly, so I had to do a double take) it turned out it wasn’t, but they looked really similar. same face shape, same lips…except Jin’s are sexier… The makeup for visual kei and j-rock acts is INTENSE. I’ve seen a few vids on youtube of some band members doing style cure tutorials, and those makeup artists have sh**loads of makeup!!! I saw one girl with a tray of eyeshadow that was 2 ft X 2 ft, and it had every shade. I feel so insignificant…*girl who hardly wears makeup*
On a totally random note, there was a drama I used to watch called BoysESTE, or Boys Esthetics, and it was good! But, after about the 5th episode, it dissapeared. I cant find it anywhere – raw or subbed!! I guess the sub group dropped it, or the show stopped all together…
ω Some more news!!! ω I am officially going to China in summer of 2009 – 2010!! I’m SO excited – it’s a school thing, and we’ll be really busy visiting different historic places, (more of a trip, not a vacation) but I’m still really happy! I’ll have to work hard in my chinese class next year so I’ll be ready. Maybe I’ll get on the wrong flight home and end up in Japan…by accident…*plots*
Now I go listen to Arashi’s new single One Love (!!!!!!) and then go sleep.

BANG!…
First, some good news!!! Yamapi is going to play a role in the new 2008 drama, “Code Blue”. Great cast – Yamapi, Aragaki Yui, and Toda Erika! it’ll be interesting. I think it has to do with flight medical training. We don’t know much yet, but I’m already so excited!!!
I just watched the Kurosagi movie, now availiable on www.mysoju.com. (it was briefly up on www.crunchyroll.com, but it was taken down soon after) It was awesome!!! Yamashita Tomohisa was amazing as usual – more costumes and swindling attempts. Yamapi is such a good actor!
I really hope there is a second movie coming out, though. The ending left a lot of things unclear, but overall, the movie was great – I mean, we’re talking about Yamapi and Horikita Maki here. If there is a second movie, I hope that there will be a little more romance between Kurosaki and Yoshida/Yoshikawa.
Ugh – this weekend I have tons of homework to do. I have three projects to finish! Sucks, because we have 5 days of school left, and four of them are final exams. But, when I found out that the Kurosagi movie was out with english subs, I had to do a little procrastinating. Now that I’ve watched it, my evening has been worthwhile. Off to work on a biology project, then sleep. maido ari…

Kotobukiya
Last friday, I left on a trip to New Jersey from school for Rider Cup, and along the way, we stopped at the Porter Exchange. The Porter Exchange is the ground level of a Lesley University building in Caimbridge. There are lots of japanese stores. I saw a Shiseido salon (!!! I love hair), a japanese bakery (I got a cream puff after watching too much Absolute Boyfriend), a japanese merchandise store (kimonos, t-shirts, tea sets, oriental papers, etc.), lots of ramen stores/noodle shops, and there were a few others that we didn’t have the time to go look in. Best of all, was Kotobukiya – a Japanese mart. I got so many good things there:
- Gatsby Moving Rubber Nuance Motion
- Almond Crush Pocky
- Chocolate Desert Pocky
- Hazelnut Pocky (I think)
- and the Original Choco Pocky!! then…
- Mango, Grape, and Green Apple HiChew
- Marukawa Chewing Gum 7 Pack
- and (of course) Katsushika Hokusai chopsticks with “The Great Wave of Kanagawa” image on them. I got them in order to celebrate my completed recreation of the great wave print for a school project. (painting that thing was HARD)
I have no idea what the frog flavor is.
Yes!!!! I finally got Gatsby!!!! I was so happy – I’ve been looking for some Gatsby product for months now, and I finally found it! So excited to use it!! (I love hair, cutting hair, and styling hair. especially VK styles). Anyhoo, I’m so stereotypical with my selection of Pocky and HiChew. But, now I don’t have to ask my asian friends for them, so it’s all good. I saw tons of magazines in Kotobukiya, too – the King from Ikebukuro West Gate Park was an the cover of one - I was so proud of myself for recognising him!!! Ah! I should have looked for an AnAn issue. Or Shoxx. I also wanted to try the riceballs a Next time I go, we’ll spend the day. (hopefully)

VK and Procrastination
Today I spent another afternoon doing nothing. Well, not actually nothing, - I uploaded a few An Cafe videos to my iPod - Nyappy in the World, Tekesuta Kousen, Ryuusei Rocket, Merry Making, Maple Gunman, Candy Holic, Hatsukoi – lots of the material from when before Bou left. Bou is adorable, and an awesome guitarist. He’s actually cuter than most girls. Kudos to him. Then I stuck The GazettE posters around my room. I read a Shoxx interview, and fooled around on some old acoustic I have in my room. And now I start homework. I am the worst procrastinator I know, lol. But, after uploading some VK music videos, I started watching the Reila music video by the GazettE, so it was worthwhile procrastination. I gotta say, though, the Aoi/Uruha solo is awesome – I cant stop listening to it. Wish I could play like the gazeboys.
The Crows Zero review is almost done. (also procrastinated upon) and I’ll try to have it up soon. Ah…school is winding down, except for finals. Two weeks left!! But I’m really jealous of the kids who got out last week. Stuck in school when it’s 90+ degrees out sucks. I do better in cold weather.
And I’m done with my ranting for the night.
Homework…then sleep.

Update! Koizora Review Added
Koizora review is up – finally!
http://mildeights.wordpress.com/movie-reviews/koizora-review/
I put it up earlier for a little bit, but then I made some revisions, so it’s upgraded. When I write reviews for schoolwork, it sucks, but writing reviews for fun is fun. After watching the movie, I’ve decided to do a bit of Haruma Miura stalking – I’ve started watching 14 Sai no Haha. I do that a lot, with Oguri Shun, Matsumoto Jun, Ikuta Toma. I look at their acting profiles and watch everything that they’ve been in. I think I can name more Asian actors/actresses/idols than I can name American ones. Kinda sad, but I’m a little proud. =]
Got back from hockey a while ago. Geez, I can not stay awake in the car – I’m in there for 5 minutes, and I’m snoozing away. I wonder how well I’ll do when I learn to drive…chronic car-sleeping. If it was a sport, I’d get a medal. I’m off to sleep now – long day. …♥sleep♥ …strawberry smoothie in the morning!! then off to school for MCAS. (SUCH a joke!!!)
