KHOANY

Tall Tales of a Khoanysaurus in Japan

So! Peeps have been asking me what school is like, so this (short) post (and a Part 2 post) will be dedicated to my schooling!

Well, in order for me to be able to completely enjoy a carefree and fun-filled school life here in Japoonz, I was placed in First Year Class 6. Ichinen Ro-gumi. A freshman once again. Yay.

No, actually it’s not that bad. The students are really nice, and are always very cheerful. One of my biggest worries coming here was that I’d be placed in a school where studying was such a big priority that the students didn’t have lives. I had read some other blogs, and a few discussed how little they saw friends outside of class. Luckily, my school, Nagano Nishi High School. (Nagano West High School, also called Nishiko) is a pretty easy going place. No uniforms, even. (As much as I was dreading them, they would have saved me packing, and would have helped me fit in better.)  So sorry people, no pictures of Ellie in a schoolgirl uniform. Maybe next time. (Haha! NO.)

So I have been going to school for about 2 weeks now. A different post will be “A Day in the Life” kind of thing, but now I’ll just do the basics. I get up at 6:45, and eat breakfast at 7:00. At about 8:00, I leave for school (Lately mama-san has been driving me, but soon I’ll get my bicycle insurance and I’ll go by myself. Whoohoo!) which starts at about 8:30. Have class, then lunch, then more class, then cleaning, then clubs. I have yet to choose a club to join, but have seen the art club and the calligraphy club. After clubs,  I am on my way home. Lately I’ve been walking, and it takes about an hour and a half. Ususally I get home by 6:00 or 6:30.  The other day, the weather was fnally clear enough to take some decent pictures. Here they are:

The view from my classrom, looking left, straight, and right. And a look at my school from the route home.

My school is on a hill that overlooks the Zenkoji Temple, apparently one of the most famous temples in Japan. I walk right by it on my way home from school. Sometime, I’ll take some pictures, and post them here for you to see.

That’s it for now, I’m actually going to bed soon. For the next post, comment if you want questions answered! Sorry this one wasn’t much fun aside from the pictures!
